5 steps to creating an authentic personal brand

I get it.


You want to grow your business, attract more clients, and build your online presence. But where do you start?


The answer lies in creating an awesomely authentic personal brand that completely captivates and win's over your audience.


So, let's break it down into five actionable steps that'll make your personal brand shine.

1. who even are you?

The first thing many people stumble into is not knowing themselves well enough.


The key word here is “personal”. A personal brand is YOU.


Don't know you? Well, try diving deep into stuff like your passions, your core values, the things you loathe, the things you admire, etc.


What really makes you tick?

What are your unique qualities?

What do you love? Hate? Despise? Worship? Crave?


By knowing these things about yourself, you create a deeper understanding of who you are.


And by showing this in your content, you begin attracting people who feel the same.



2. why do you do what you do?

Being a business owner is more than just a job; it's a fucking mission.


So, what's your purpose?

What change do you want to bring to the world? For who? Why?

Why do you get up in the morning to do what you do? Isn't your bed more comfortable?


Your mission is the heart of your brand. By understanding and sharing it, you'll feel way more connected to your work and you'll attract clients that want to be on this mission with you.



3. storytell that shiz

Storytelling is honestly one of the best ways you're going to grow your business.


As humans, we love to connect with stories. That's why the arts were created.


Stories can help us share our knowledge, experiences, and emotions with others, as well as learn from them. Stories can also inspire us to take action, change our perspective, or challenge our assumptions.

Your story is what makes you real.



4. consistency is key

As much as I hate the word, you’ve got to be ‘consistent’ with everything.


Show up regularly, but do it in a way that fits you. Remember, you don't have to be perfect or follow a rigid schedule.


Do what you can, when you can, but do it well.


Your audience will appreciate your authenticity and dedication.



5. engage & connect

No one likes someone who only talks about themselves and doesn’t offer a listening ear. [Not sure that's a saying but we'll roll with it]


Engage with your audience, ask questions, run polls, and involve them in your journey as much as you possibly can.


The more you give, the more you'll receive in return. It's a two-way street of connection and mutual support, my guy!


6. bonus! be you.

As you build your personal brand, remember to be yourself [or as close to that as you're comfortable with].


Authenticity is your secret weapon. Your quirks, your humour, and your unique perspective are what make you stand out.


I know it's a lot easier said than done, and you'll find that some people won't like who YOU are, but answer me this, do you want to work with clients that: a) you feel comfortable with being yourself around, or

b) you have to put a facade on every time you chat?


It's got to be A, right? My honest opinion is to start showcasing who you are as early as you can. That way your people, the people you can be comfortable being natural with, will come to you and there will be no surprises or horror down the line.


It's a lot easier.

An authentic personal brand will shine brightly, attracting clients like a moth to a flame.
